At Chantico Irish Water Spaniels our goal is to breed the ideal Irish Water Spaniel as described in the Breed Standard while keeping health, soundness and solid temperaments at the top of the priority list. To achieve that goal we ensure that any dogs we breed, or breed to, are C.H.I.C. compliant (Canine Health Information Center) and have passed all the necessary health clearances including, but not limited to, Hips, Elbows, Thyroid and CERF (eyes). Great thought, research and careful consideration goes into the planning of each litter we produce. We breed infrequently as Irish Water Spaniels, in spite of their beautiful looks, definitely are not the right dog for everyone. Instead, we breed only when we want to add another dog to our own families.

Our Irish Water Spaniels compete in conformation, obedience, rally obedience, dock-diving, agility and hunt tests. But first and foremost they are loving members of our families. Irish Water Spaniels love and need to be with their families. They are not a breed that can be kept as outdoor or kennel dogs.
